3 October 2018
Having mixed abilities used to mean that Julie faced a more difficult time around the kitchen. That was until she came up with some ingenious hacks to make her culinary life easier.
Can Julie’s tips can help you to an easier, stress-free cooking experience, too?
Butter-ly genius!
The eternal struggle of trying to spread hard butter on toast is over!
Just grate your (cold) butter and it will spread like a dream.
Don’t be undone by onion
Placing an onion in hot water for five minutes will make the skin really easy to peel.
The same is true for garlic — but, if you can’t wait five minutes for garlic, microwave it for 20 seconds instead.
Embrace the ice cube tray
Filling an ice cube tray tray with things like pasta sauce, stock cubes, or even coffee removes the difficulty caused by pesky jar lids or food wrapping.
Just pop out the cubes whenever you need them and melt your way to an easier mealtime!
The best way to *ahem* ‘squeeze a lemon’
If you struggle to use the lemon juicer, why not grab a set of kitchen tongs?
It’s a much easier way to extract that lovely, citrus-y juice.
Grip it up!
If you need that jar open in an instant then grab a rubber grip.
It’ll provide a bit more purchase and allow you a much easier jar opening experience.
Do the mash
An easy way to prepare avocado for a delicious guacamole is to ditch the fork and use a potato masher.
Much easier and produces a smoother guac, too!
