Will celebrated chefs Tony Singh and Cyrus Todiwala get a red card for adding spice to the classic half-time football pie?

5 October 2018

“We’re messing about with their pies — a scotch pie is a scotch pie!

Tony Singh and Cyrus Todiwala gave themselves the potentially thankless task of trying to make over the feted football pie as part of the Scotland episode of their programme The Incredible Spice Men.

The two went to Easter Road – home of Tony’s beloved Hibernian – and road tested their spice-infused scotch pies...

...but how did their take on the UK’s favourite half-time snack go down?

Tony takes his life in his hands when he spices up Hibs' fans half time meat pies.

“We’ve got to make it outstanding”

Tony was understandably nervous about dishing out the new pies.

“Never mind the result of the game – cause I know we’re going to win – but see these pies, if they’re no right we’re in for it, eh?”

The verdict?

  • Very good!” – the shared opinion of two young fans.
  • Absolutely delicious!” – a previous skeptic who was converted.
  • Very nice!” – a man that didn’t even use the brown sauce Cyrus was offering.
  • This is the best pie we’ve had in 50 years!

Glowing praise indeed... great job!
