The 2019 Women’s World Cup in France has seen millions of people around the globe tune in to watch the pinnacle of women’s football and inspired young people to emulate the footsteps of their icons.
But not everyone is convinced.
Mornings with Kaye Adams received a call from Steven – a man who feels that the Women’s World Cup doesn’t contain enough quality to maintain his interest.
After listing his gripes against World Cup 2019, Steven let slip that he had not actually seen a women’s football game since the 1990s!
Kaye was careful to question Steven’s evidence of the modern women’s game lacking quality, but does his outburst show that some men are still inherently sexist when it comes to appreciating women’s football?
