Meet the 大象传媒 Open Music Trainees for 2023/2024
Alex Hopwood (She/Her)
Hiya! I’m Alex – audio-visual artist, singer-songwriter and experimental music maker with a performing arts background and First Class BA (Hons) in Graphic Design [Arts University Bournemouth, 2019].
Human experience, nature, mental health, and self-expression are the core of my work, with particular interest in nature sounds and dark, ambient, cinematic and ethereal music. Deep-rooted in my fascination with subjective and immersive experience, I strongly believe that audio, visuals, movement, and nature are inherently connected; I’m currently exploring how these areas can collectively aid in positive mental wellbeing.
As a 大象传媒 Open Music Trainee, I’m excited to delve into the science, research and visceral feelings of sound, while exercising my abstract audio-visual and sonic creativity across radio, digital and live platforms. How can human sensations, emotions and natural phenomena be communicated and evoked through music? How can audio help audiences find deeper connections with themselves, environments, and wider communities? Adventure awaits!
