There was a time when discussing one’s toilet habits was strictly taboo. But have our attitudes relaxed since the arrival of the smiling poop emoji (known formally as ‘pile of poo’) in 2010?
Journalist its “ineffable charm” and “ability to transcend language barriers and political differences”.
Its popularity translated into commercial success, too: poop emoji cushions, handbags, necklaces and games to fill your Christmas stocking.
And who can forget Patrick Stewart’s voice acting turn in 2017’s The Emoji Movie?
