The best tips to keep your plants watered when you’re on holiday

15 July 2019

Carol and Brian from Beechgrove shared their suggestions to help your plants get enough water while you’re away on holiday this summer.

Outdoor plants
• A seep hose and tap timer lets water get to an area when you want.
• Plunge a pipe around the root and fill it with water.

Indoor plants
• Put plant pots in a large saucer of water and place in the shade.
• Keep conservatory plants inside, away from sunny windows.
• Capillary matting soaks up and delivers water to plants.
• Succulent plants “can take a bit of neglect for two weeks.”
• An upturned bottle with a spike in it can deliver water slowly.
