Beethoven Remixed Privacy Notice

Your trust is very important to us. This means the 大象传媒 is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data.

It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information.

This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal data about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.

Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

大象传媒 Radio Three and 大象传媒 Music are launching Beethoven Remixed, an exciting new project to mark Beethoven’s 250th birthday, where you can remix the first movement of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony to create your own music, which may be used in one of our broadcasts.

Once you have created your music, you can submit it to us via our Beethoven Remixed uploader form. If we like your creation, it may be used in one of our broadcasts on 大象传媒 Radio Three. Please note that we hope to use your creation for Beethoven Remixed, but we can’t guarantee it.

What will the 大象传媒 collect and how will we use it?

The 大象传媒 will collect and process the personal data that you have provided to us about yourself.

You must be 16 years or older to participate in Beethoven Remixed. The 大象传媒 will collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Your name
  • Your email address so that we can inform you if your submission is going to be broadcast (although please note that we cannot guarantee this)
  • Your location (town/city) so that we can mention this on air if your submission is broadcast
  • A description of your piece, which may contain a personal statement if you choose to provide it

The 大象传媒 may also collect the following special category data depending on the content of any personal statement you provide:

  • Race or ethnicity
  • Health
  • Religious or philosophical beliefs
  • Sexual Orientation

Who is the Data Controller?

The 大象传媒 is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the 大象传媒 decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the 大象传媒 has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data

The legal basis on which the 大象传媒 processes your personal data is the performance of its public task set out in the 大象传媒’s Charter to show the most creative, highest quality and distinctive output. The 大象传媒’s role is to act in the public interest and to provide services that are distinctive from those provided elsewhere, taking creative risks in order to develop fresh approaches and to serve all audiences with innovative content which informs, educates and entertains.

The 大象传媒 processes your special category data (if applicable) on the lawful basis that processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest. These reasons are for the purposes of journalism, art and literature because one of the 大象传媒’s wider purposes is to reflect, represent and serve the diverse communities of all the UK’s nations and regions.

Retaining your information

We hope to use your creation as part of Beethoven Remixed, but we can’t guarantee it.

The 大象传媒 will retain your personal data and your recording for up to six months from the date of the upload, after which it will be deleted.

If your audio is used for broadcast, it will be retained and archived by the 大象传媒.

Your rights and more information

under data protection law. You can request a copy of the data 大象传媒 stores about you, which includes your 大象传媒 Account data and the data described above.

You have the right to ask for your data we collect to be deleted however there are exceptions to your rights and they may be limited in some situations, for example we may refuse this request.
