‘Why is the world worth saving?’ asks this best-selling author

6 February 2019

Frank Cottrell-Boyce is one of the UK’s best-loved children’s authors. His books, such as Millions and Cosmic, are read right across the UK.

As part of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Authors Live, Frank spoke to a room of school pupils and asked them for 10 reasons why the world is worth saving.

But this wasn’t Frank being pessimistic!

Instead, he was talking about his most recent book, Sputnik’s Guide to Life on Earth, in which a young boy living in Kirkcudbright is visited by an alien resembling a dog.

The boy is then given the task of providing his extraterrestrial visitor with 10 good reasons why earth should be saved from destruction.

10? How about 15 reasons to save the world!

The schoolchildren in the audience for Frank Cottrell-Boyce’s conversation also worked with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ L.A.B team to share the things they would save ...if they had to.

Why the earth is worth saving

Pupils of Oakgrove Primary School tell us the things on earth they would preserve.

What inspired ‘Sputnik’?

‘I swear the idea just jumped through the car window whilst I was waiting outside Tesco.’
