Working together it will take Mum and Dad 24 minutes to do the housework on an average day.
Details of a possible solution.
Solving the following two equations gives us one way of obtaining the solution to this puzzle
(1/M) = (1/40)
(1/D) = (1/60)
Adding these gives the team time
(1/M) + (1/D) = (1/40) + (1/60) = (5/120) = (1/24)
A teamwork time of 24 minutes.
