Crimewatch Live Privacy Notice
Crimewatch Live is produced by 大象传媒 Studios for broadcast, use and exploitation by the 大象传媒 (the Commissioner). 大象传媒 Studios is the data controller and we are responsible for handling the personal information you provide, in accordance with data protection law.
This privacy notice applies to anyone who makes contact with Crimewatch Live.
What information we collect and how we use it
大象传媒 Studios will collect and process your contact details (if you provide them) and the information you provide to us via text, email or via our dedicated Crimewatch Live phoneline, in connection with any Crimewatch Live appeal.
大象传媒 Studios relies on its legitimate interests as a media organisation to process your personal information. We will not process your personal information where your rights override our interests.
The details you submit will come into our central Crimewatch Live production team. Only a limited, number of trained individuals have access to this information. It will only be used to gain further information on the cases featured. 大象传媒 Studios will not use your details for any other purpose without your consent and will not transfer your details to any third party except the relevant police force, without contacting you first. All information provided is reviewed by the production team, and relevant information is sent securely to the relevant police force. The police may contact you once they have received the information.
Retaining your personal information
The information you have provided to us, or that is later collected in connection with Crimewatch Live, will be used by 大象传媒 Studios for purposes related to the production of this series. This may include sensitive ‘special category’ information that you have provided relating to other individuals. 大象传媒 Studios will securely store the information you submit for a period of up to 7 years after broadcast of the series or longer if a case is unsolved. We do this in case we or the police wish to contact you about the information you provide andfor any follow-up appeal or where necessary for related purposes.
If you subsequently wish us to delete your contact details you may contact us to request this.
If you provide information that is not relevant to Crimewatch Live your details will be deleted at the end of the series.
The information you have provided to us may be used by the police to assist in their investigations.
Sharing your information within 大象传媒 Studios and the 大象传媒
Your personal information will generally be restricted to relevant members of the Crimewatch Live production team and crew, or as otherwise required by law. Where necessary, we may also share information with other 大象传媒 Studios staff professional advisors and the 大象传媒.
Sharing Information with the Police
If you contact Crimewatch Live via our phoneline with information about a case we will ask you for your name and contact details. This is so that the police can contact you for more information if they wish to. Whilst it is helpful for you to provide your contact details you are under no obligation to do so. If you contact us by text or email we will pass the given contact details to the police unless you ask us not to.
Any data shared with the police is transferred securely.
Once information has been passed to the police, the relevant police force becomes responsible for that data, and their use of it is subject to their own data protection policies and procedures.
