What attracted you to being involved in The Secrets?
I liked the concept of getting writers to all write one script with a 'secret', the variations are endless and fascinating. Nick鈥檚 script was instantly gripping, putting these lovely people in a very painful situation and seeing how they cope. I loved it.
How was it working with Dominic Savage?
He's an absolute sweetheart. He really knows how to get his thoughts across in a gentle, patient way. A lovely man and director.
How would you describe Pippa鈥檚 relationship with Angela?
They have a beautiful relationship, they respect each other, they are friends. It's the respectful love that makes it possible for Pippa to consider helping her mother, to ask herself if she can fulfil her wishes.
How does Pippa feel when Angela first asks for her help?
How would you feel? Pretty horrendous. It would be easier to stick your head in the sand and hope it'll get better, it'll all go away.
Pippa is also pregnant. How well do you think she deals with all her emotions?
I think she's brilliant. She deals with everything with dignity and courage. They both do.
How do you think her relationship with Shaun is affected by her dilemma?
He is tested, but he comes round. They're stronger by the end I think.
What was it like working with Steve and Alison?
It was a long-held dream of mine to work with Alison [Steadman] and I've also always been a fan of Steve [Oram]. They didn't disappoint at all.
What do you hope the audience will take away from watching The Dilemma?
I hope people talk about it, and keep the debate open about this sort of extraordinary predicament.
