Cloudy Bay Garden

A garden for private reflection, where you can sit on the western red cedar boardwalk and let your troubles float away.
The communal areas designed for socialising at the back of the garden feature charred cedar planks.
Acid heathland doesn’t have to be limiting. The simple plant palette at first glance gives way to detail on closer inspection.
Large pine trees tower over the garden.

Designer profile

Since winning the RHS Young Designer of the Year award in 2014, Sam has travelled the country creating designs.

Sam lives in Looe in Cornwall where he grew up. His family run a mixed farm with livestock and crops. He has his own herd of sheep, which he was lambing in the build up to the show.

Designed by Sam Ovens

This is a garden with two halves that evokes the natural heathlands of Cornwall, the Scilly Isles, Denmark, Tasmania and New Zealand.
