The Burns-inspired short set to make a star out of another Capaldi

Burns Night lands on January 25th every year and sees people all around the world celebrate the life of Scotland's most famous poet through ceilidhs, poetry recitals and Burns Suppers.

Some of the delicious foods enjoyed at a Burns Supper include clootie dumpling, cullen skink and – of course – haggis.

A new short film Haggis celebrates Scotland's national dish whilst introducing us to a glut of new acting talent, some of whom are making their first TV appearance – including actor Anthony Capaldi.

Phoning Ma

A tense phone call home inspired by 'Address to a Haggis' by Robert Burns.

As well as Anthony, Haggis is chock full of Scottish acting talent.

You may recognise Jimmy Chisholm from his roles in ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland's River City and Mountain Goats, with his wife – played by Elaine MacKenzie Ellis – a character actor who has appeared in various TV shows and films.

There are also roles for Still Game's Sanjeev Kohli as well as Simon Sharkey and Mary McCusker.

But along with the venerable veterans of stage and screen, there are up-and-coming actors such as: Hannah Low, Jarad Rowan, Draya Maria, David Ferns, Matt Roberts, Vanessa Giuliani, Mollie Milne, Cindy Awor, Jordan Colquhoun, Yannik Borzynski, Julie Brown, Sanjay Lago, Martin Docherty and Sharon Osdin.

The huge ensemble cast all act out their parts with dialogue delivered in a style inspired by the poetry of Scotland's most famous poet.
