Jonathan Ross continues his exploration of all things Japanese. In this episode, he investigates the rise of the Gyaru, feisty young Japanese women.

With the image of the Japanese woman as a sweet, submissive geisha radically changing in recent years, Japanorama looks at the current trends amongst young Japanese women and some of their enduring female icons.

Jonathan gets to grips with the Ganguro – whose love of Californian fake tan and bleached blonde hair have made them symbols of modern Japan. We take a look at the iconic Reiko Ike, the female action star who reigned supreme in the 1970s and Jonathan learns the ultimate girlie dance, Para Para, with Maeken a cross dressing teen sensation.
