Geoffrey Palmer narrates a six-part documentary series tracing the evolution of the middle class in Britain over the last century. The middle classes used to be a small minority, sandwiched between the aristocracy and a vast working class. But social changes have seen that minority become a huge majority which dominates the nation. The story starts in late Victorian suburbia with a tale of ambition and murder.
