The Verdict follows a fictional rape case in a real court room, argued by leading barristers and presided over by a real judge.

The jury members, including Michael Portillo and Stan Collymore, are followed throughout, providing an insight into how a jury reaches a verdict.

The two men accused of rape, the alleged victim and the eye witnesses are all actors, but the trial is unscripted. On day one the victim gives an account of the brutal rape, but the jurors are divided in their reaction to her.
