Hazel Irvine presents coverage of day two of the 29th European Indoor Championships from Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.

There are eight finals taking place today and one of the highlights could be in the men's triple jump, where Sweden's Olympic Champion Christian Olsson will face a strong home challenge from Nathan Douglas, who was second behind Olsson at last year's European outdoor championships, and Phillips Idowu, the Commonwealth Games champion.

Britain's Mo Farah took his first major title before Christmas when he became European Cross Country champion. He'll be one of the favourites for today's 3000m, while Helen Clitheroe will be aiming for gold in the 1500m.

The last two finals should also provide plenty of thrills for the crowd as both the men and the women battle it out for 400m gold.

Du'aine Ladejo was the last British gold medallist in the men's event, winning his second title back in 1996, while you have to go back to Sally Gunnell in 1989 to find the last home gold medallist in the women's race. However, Nicola Sanders showed the sort of form that could take her to gold at the UK Championships in Sheffield.
