Lowry
If you think you knew Lowry, then think again. Rolf Harris discovers there is much more to the man and his art than industrial landscapes and matchstalk figures.
If you think you knew Lowry, then think again. In this documentary, Rolf Harris discovers there is much more to the man and his art than industrial landscapes and matchstalk figures.
Lowry's travels across the length and breadth of UK inspired a huge range of styles and subject matter. Following in his footsteps, Rolf takes to the road visiting the Northeast, the Lakes, Scotland, and London and he sees what each place had to offer Lowry, from bare seascapes in Sunderland and brooding landscapes in the Lake District to ancient buildings in Berwick and Yachts in Lytham. And that's not to mention his commission to paint the Coronation.
Through Rolf's travels we meet the people who knew Lowry, the people who worked with him, friends as well as those who simply encountered him. Rolf also meets a group of art students in Berwick, all taking their inspiration from the town's 'Lowry Walk' for their own art.
Through the people Rolf meets along the way, viewers will get an insight not only into the variety of Lowry's work, but also his character.
