Documentary about the Marine Support Unit, 80 police officers in ten speedboats who patrol a 50 mile stretch of the River Thames as it winds its way through London.
Documentary about the Marine Support Unit.
Cutting through the heart of London and offering unique access to the capital's tourist attractions and iconic British landmarks, the Thames is the perfect vantage point for planning crime and terror. With 80 officers and 10 speedboats, the Marine Support Unit must police this 50 mile stretch of tidal river - and all the other waterways in the capital - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
From the river, an officer spots suspicious activity on the riverbank and calls landside police to investigate. An absconding suspect attempts to escape in the dark by the river. A dumped, weighted-down bag dredged up by the unit's dive team contains saws, and a body is found in a canal.
