Series following six public figures as they pursue their dreams of becoming musicians. It captures the trials and tribulations they face during the process and sees how they fare as they dedicate themselves to a rigorous musical regime of lessons, practising and public performances, all of which lead towards one virtuoso solo performance.

MP Diane Abbott has been far too busy forging a political career to learn to play a musical instrument. But she鈥檚 always dreamt of playing the piano. Now she鈥檚 decided to realise this dream and see what total dedication to an instrument can achieve.

Determined to be able to play a Chopin prelude in a public concert by the end of the year, Diane starts from scratch. She learns how to read music, gets to grips with scales and gets up at six in the morning to practice.

Whilst learning, Diane rediscovers her musical roots, travelling to Jamaica to meet her family there who are all classical music enthusiasts. Here she hears of a great uncle who became an accomplished classical violinist in New York in the 1920s, but whose dream of being a professional player was dashed when the great depression hit.

Although Diane is inspired by her ancestors' story, it鈥檚 not easy. During an intensive piano course with her teacher Paul Roberts, Diane realises that nerves could get the better of her when it comes to public performance. And at her finale, as six hundred expectant piano enthusiasts await to hear her play Chopin鈥檚 Prelude No 4 in E minor, it is touch and go whether she will make it.
