Part 26
Michael Caines battles Mark Hix to represent the South West. Mark serves a salad of goats' cheese, asparagus and mixed beets and Michael goes for a galantine of quail.
Fourteen of the nation's top chefs compete to convince the French that we can match them in gastronomic prowess. Two top chefs from each region will be competing head to head to win the chance to cook at a fantastic four course banquet hosted by the British Ambassador to France.
Representing the South West of England are Michael Caines and Mark Hix. Each edition sees the chefs will cook a different course, culminating when they present their entire menu to the Great British Menu judges: Prue Leith, Matthew Fort and Oliver Peyton. First dish is the starter – Mark serves up a salad of goats’ cheese, asparagus and mixed beets and Michael goes for a galantine of quail. Presented by Jennie Bond.
