It is 1968 - an important year: his parents have split up, at one point his mother, sister and himself are homeless, he gets a severe attack of jaundice and starts at grammar school.

His Dad took him to London's Highbury Stadium and there was no looking back.

'I fell in love with football as I was later to fall in love with women: suddenly, inexplicably, uncritically'

But does football ruin men and their relationships? Probably...
