British Benefits Abroad

The Five Live Report investigates how EU rules have led to benefits being paid out to European workers who don't live in the UK. Reporter Adrian Goldberg travels to Poland to meet the families who are living off British benefits.

Some UK benefits collected by Poles are the equivalent of an average nurse's salary in Poland. He hears from the local authorities in Poland who have hired extra staff to help a flood of new applicants claim UK benefits without even having to cross the Channel. This programme exposes for the first time the scale of these claims.
