Dr Nick Hollings has devoted half of his life to the NHS, from an ambitious 18-year-old seeking a place at St Mary's Medical School, through 100 hour weeks as a junior doctor and 14 years of exams to become a consultant. Now an established consultant radiologist, Nick faces a worrying future. With long waiting lists for scans, the Department of Health is making tough decisions in the name of efficiency.
