Programme 10
Jackie Morrison visits Sam Wallace, we hear poetry old and new, and there’s a few tunes.
Jackie opens the programme with a visit to her friend Sam Wallace in his home looking out towards Slemish and they have a good yarn about stone walling, working sheepdogs and other things. We’ve music from Sylvia Barnes with ‘Glasgow Lassie’ from her CD, ‘The Colour of Amber’.
Wilbert Magill has written a poem, based on a true incident that took place in Newtownards Harvest Fair about 100 years ago: it’s called ‘William James’ Unicorn’. And we have an older poem, written by David Herbison, The Bard of Dunclug, called ‘The Group’ about a bunch of friends coming together for a bit of crack in Sam McGuffin’s Kitchen. The poem has been set to music by local band, Ailsa.
We close the programme with a poem from Wilson Burgess - Oot o the Bottle - about the results of a trip to a hairdresser….
