The new season of broadcasts from New York's Metropolitan Opera House opens with one of the supreme dramatic works of the 18th century. Gluck's Iphig茅nie was the crowning achievement of his career, and ever since its premiere, it has gripped audiences with its insights into practical and psychological family problems in the aftermath of the Trojan War.

American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham sings the title role, while tenor Pl谩cido Domingo plays her long-lost brother Oreste for the first time and French conductor Louis Langr茅e makes his Met debut.
