In a special programme recorded in front of an audience at the Free Thinking Festival in Liverpool, a panel including playwright Alan Bleasdale and veteran producer Michael Wearing re-examine one of British television's most celebrated dramas, Boys from the Blackstuff.
First shown in 1982, it was a remarkable hit, with catchphrases and characters that caught the mood of the nation at a time of high unemployment and social unrest. It also changed forever the careers of writer Alan Bleasdale and producer Michael Wearing, as well as establishing actors Bernard Hill, Julie Walters and Michael Angelis in the public mind.
With Paul Allen.
