Dangerous Dancing

Episode 3 of 3

Series about the history of British social dancing in the 20th century. In the 1970s, allegiance to music types created separate dance scenes, from punk to disco.

Three-part documentary series telling the history of British social dancing in the 20th century, using rare archive film and interviews. From the 1970s, allegiance to music types created separate dance scenes, from punk to soul to disco. Sex and drugs were more essential than ever to dance, whether it was reggae dancehall's sexualised moves or rave's love affair with ecstasy. The rave scene was a home-grown phenomenon, provoking government legislation and induction into the cultural mainstream.
