Private Passions

Michael Berkeley presents a Chopin archive selection, including jazz bassist Charlie Haden on the Etudes and scholar Edward Said on the Impromptu, Op 36.

As part of Radio 3's Chopin Experience, Michael Berkeley draws on the programme's archives for a selection of Chopin pieces chosen by previous guests.

They include psychiatrist Anthony Storr and jazz bassist Charlie Haden on the Etudes; the late writer and scholar Edward Said on the Impromptu, Op 36; and journalist Anne Karpf on a Nocturne played by her mother Natalia.

Plus politician William Hague, writer Andre Brink and poet Anne Stevenson on a selection of Preludes, as well as actor Patrick Malahide on the G minor Ballade.
