Another chance to hear a Prom in which young violinist Julia Fischer joins the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and its chief conductor for a programme inspired by rustic dances.
Brahms's Violin Concerto ends with a peasant dance, while the third movement of Dvorak's Sixth is a 'furiant' with cross-rhythms. This is preceded by Johan Wagenaar's overture to Cyrano de Bergerac.
