The first of a pair of concerts recorded in August 2008 at the Queen's Hall by the Belcea Quartet featuring a cycle of the Bartok string quartets. Now regarded as milestones of 20th century chamber music repertoire, these quartets, like those by Beethoven and Haydn, provide an overview of their composer's output at every main juncture of his career.
