From the Royal Albert Hall, London. Presented by Martin Handley.
The celebrated Berlin Philharmonic, in the first of two Proms with principal conductor Simon Rattle, perform a programme of works based on the tragic story of the forbidden love between the Cornish knight Tristan and the Irish princess Isolde. The concert begins with Wagner's own concert version of the overture to his great opera of love and death combined with the final aria of his heroine.
