Joining Sue MacGregor around the table to remember the fire and its aftermath are the project manager for the restoration of Windsor Castle, Chris Watson. John Thorneycroft, then head of English Heritage's Government and Royal Buildings team, and Sir Hayden Phillips, then Permanent secretary of the Department of National Heritage. Pamela Lewis, who worked on the restoration of curtains, upholstery, braids, hangers and tassels, and Dickie Arbiter, who was one of the queen's press secretaries and was actually living at Windsor Castle at the time.
