Series following rookie chef Chris McClurg during his training in Europe's top kitchens and vineyards. Chris jets off to the vineyards of Provence to develop a nose for fine wine.
By becoming the Shanks Apprentice, 18-year-old Chris McClurg has been served up an opportunity others can only dream of. As he jets off on the second leg of his scholarship to the stunning vineyards of Provence, the young chef has only a short time to develop a nose for fine wine. Difficult when he knows 'rien' about wine and can just about tell the difference between a white and a red! It's soon clear it's going to be a huge uphill struggle to find - let alone develop - Chris's palate.
Events take an unexpected turn when a posse of surprise guests arrive at the chateau and Chris is challenged to cook for them all. Not easy when you are in a strange kitchen in a strange land. The strain starts to show as things in the kitchen heat up. And when one of the dinner guests takes a shine to the young apprentice, it becomes evident that there's more simmering in the kitchen than fish stock. Narrator: Jim Nicholson.
