At the Reebok Stadium Arsenal face an early test of their title credentials against Bolton. The Gunners have lost three of their last four league visits to Bolton but will hope they have ended their Reebok hoodoo.
Stoke City are visitors to Anfield, the Potters playing their first league game against Liverpool since 1985. Stoke have never won a top flight match at Anfield and anything other than a home win would be a massive shock. Can Tony Pulis's side shackle Spanish sensation Fernando Torres?
Elsewhere, local pride is at stake at the Stadium of Light where Sunderland host Middlesbrough, West Ham take on Newcastle and Fulham visit Blackburn.
