It is blowing a gale in Uist as Alasdair MacLeod meets seaweed farmer Donald MacPhee on the beach at Boisdale, South Uist. He learns that there is a fascinating variety of seaweed and discovers that raw seaweed is not entirely to his taste. Maggie MacKenzie meets crofter and artist Donald Ferguson along with his Hebridean sheep near Hougharry. His flock are small and hardy but their meat is delicious, as Maggie discovers. Freshly caught monkfish is on the menu at the Polochar Inn, cooked by chef Iain MacRury. The Hebridean odyssey ends with Maggie and Alasdair creating a delicious Hebridean lamb dish, and an inspirational carrageen panna cotta served with a clementine compote.
