Around the World

An entertaining journey through the 18 other countries that now have their own versions of the hit programme. Featuring some bizarre inventions and cringeworthy pitches.

One of the most successful business entertainment programmes of the last decade, Dragons' Den recently finished its sixth series. Since the first episode hit our screens, almost ten thousand plucky entrepreneurs have applied to the programme and hundreds have pitched their business ideas and inventions to our five multi-millionaire dragon investors. Some of those have even gone on to become millionaires themselves thanks to the backing of the Dragons. But it isn't a UK-only phenomenon

Dragons' Den Around the World reveals the cult Japanese show that was the inspiration for the UK show, and takes an entertaining and illuminating journey through the 18 other countries that now have their own versions of the hit programme.

Through several post-communist eastern European countries, via Israel, Lebanon and Nigeria, right through to the most recent convert - the US, Dragons' Den Around The World takes a global look at some of the most bizarre inventions, most cringeworthy pitches, the angriest exchanges, as well as revelling in the joyous moments when the plucky entrepreneur actually gets investment. Featuring interviews with dragons from Canada, Russia, Australia, Nigeria and Romania (where the dragons all had to be under 45, to ensure they had no associations with the old communist regime), we also hear what our very own UK Dragons think of the different versions.

Business ideas that have been put up for investment include conjoined dancing shoes from the Ukraine, a fish tank housed in your toilet tank from the Israel, a Romanian striptease puppet show and a new type of cologne made to conjure up the smell of surf dudes - yup, that one's from Australia.
