Was £50m for a Titian painting money well spent?
Graham Stewart takes your calls on taxpayers helping fund a piece of art. Plus: Should there be British jobs for British workers?
Millions of pounds of taxpayers' money has been spent on securing a 16th Century painting by Titian for the nation. The Scottish Government has pledged £12.5m and 4.6m has come from the National Galleries of Scotland. Is that a good way of spending money during an economic downturn?
Plus: Should there be British jobs for British workers?
Hundreds of energy workers in Scotland have walked out over the issue of foreign contractors. The action is in support of staff at the Lindsey oil plant in Lincolnshire who walked out over moves to hire overseas staff on a new £200m plant. Are British workers being discriminated against? Should jobs be offered to local people first? Or does the echo of the Prime Minister's call for "British jobs for British people" contain more than a hint of xenophobia?
Graham Stewart takes your calls, texts and emails.
