18/03/2009 Tan Dun and Stéphane Denève

Presented by Petroc Trelawny. With composer Tan Dun talking about The Map, his concerto for cello, video and orchestra, and conductor Stéphane Denève on his concerts with the RSNO.

Petroc Trelawny presents a selection of music and guests from the arts world.

Award-winning composer Tan Dun talks to Petroc about the latest performance of his ten-movement, 55-minute concerto for cello, video and orchestra. The Map was first performed in 2002 and connects Chinese singing and dance with the rituals of a more traditional solo concerto.

And conductor Stéphane Denève talks to Petroc from Glasgow ahead of his 'Springtime in Paris' concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
