From the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, James Levine conducts a performance of the first part of Wagner's four-part epic drama, The Ring of the Nibelung, based on Nordic myths.

This timeless universe is the backdrop for a colossal fight between the god Wotan and the dwarf Alberich, the Nibelung, who wants to seize power with the help of a magic ring, forged with gold taken from the Rhein. A star cast is led by celebrated American bass-baritone James Morris, who has made the god Wotan his signature role.
