A quarter of UK pensioners feel their lives are getting worse, according to a report by the merged charity Age Concern and Help the Aged. But, over the longer term, Scottish pensioners are far happier and Lindsay Scott from the charity says we’ve got our MSPs to thank. So with free personal care, free prescriptions and free bus travel, have our pensioners actually never had it so good?

A survey published this morning claims that Scotland has the bumpiest roads in Britain, with Ayrshire claiming top spot in the league of shame. A study of claims for axle or suspension damage by Warranty Direct found 14% of cars in Ayrshire fell victim to potholes in any given year.
