Scipione, Acts 1 and 2

Episode 1 of 2

Penny Gore presents Acts 1 and 2 of Scipione, the story of a conquering Roman general. With Christophe Rousset conducting Les Talens Lyriques and countertenor Derek Lee Ragin.

Penny Gore presents Acts 1 and 2 of Scipione, the story of a conquering Roman general who, instead of exercising his right to possess a beautiful captive - Berenice - ends up helping her to be happy with her lover. This highly moral tale was set to music in rather a hurry by Handel, yet is considered among his most impressive music.
