Till Fellner

Catherine Bott presents a recital given in Vienna. Pianist Till Fellner continues his Beethoven piano sonata cycle with the three Sonatas, Op 31 and the Op 101.

Presented by Catherine Bott.

As part of his two-year exploration of the entire cycle of Beethoven piano sonatas, incorporating recitals in Europe and America, celebrated Austrian pianist Till Fellner gives a performance at the Vienna Konzerthaus.

The programme comprises the set of three sonatas, Op 31, which are strikingly original, and were written in the middle of Beethoven's lifetime, at the crucial time in his life when he was coming to terms with his deafness. These are matched with one of his later works, the sonata in A, Op 101, which has an air of introspection. Beethoven described it as a 'series of impressions and reveries'.
