From Cadogan Hall, Andrew Carwood directs The Cardinall's Musick in a programme marking the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Henry VIII.

Richly sonorous and grand in design, the music of the time combines massive choral writing with a complex layering of solo lines. The mix of sacred and secular includes songs by King Henry himself and settings of texts in his honour by leading composers of the day.

Henry VIII: Pastyme with good companye
Fayrfax: Gloria (Missa Regali ex progenie)
W Cornysh: Ah, Robin, gentle Robin
Henry VIII: Helas, madame
Fayrfax: Benedicte! What dreamed I?
Sampson: Psallite felices
Taverner: Christe Jesu, pastor bone
Tallis: Sancte Deus, sancte fortis
Ludford: Domine Jesu Christe.
