Episode 2
Designers Jamie Anley and Phil Nutley help homeowners decorate their homes. The Bundys from Walthamstow are first-time buyers who want to create a dream family home.
Designers Phil Nutley and Jamie Anley want to buck the trend and ban identikit interiors from the UK. They believe that our homes should reflect their owners - they should be unique and personal and not something lifted out of an interior design magazine or department store.
Ever thought of turning an old suitcase into a table? A container into a music studio? A favourite photo into wallpaper or a bathroom blind? Phil and Jamie will demonstrate how to turn the ordinary into something unique and meaningful.
Here, they help two couples to make their own mark on their homes. The Bundys from Walthamstow are first-time buyers who want to create a dream family home but lack the confidence to get started. John is British but his wife Alina is from the Ukraine, so they want their home to reflect both their cultures and to help Alina really feel at home in her adopted country.
The Wolff family from Purley need a house that doubles as both a family home and a place of work for both parents. Their house has been let to tenants for the last five years and it just does not feel like home yet.
We follow both couples as Phil and Jamie encourage and inspire them to really stamp their personalities onto their homes. Childhood memories, family histories and personal passions get incorporated into two innovative and very individual designs.
Home for Life is a recession-responsive series which will give confidence to homeowners to create a home unique to them. It is not about raising the selling price but staying put in a home you love.
