Why don't children play outside anymore?

Graham Stewart takes your calls on a report which suggests nearly half of kids never play outside their homes.

Almost half of five to ten-year-olds never play outside their homes, according to a report. That's a dramatic change from the freedom that previous generations enjoyed when they were children. Indeed, just 12 per cent of over-65s said they had never played outside their homes.

Fast-moving traffic and worries over paedophiles are cited as the main reasons. But are today's parents paranoid about the supposed dangers? Or should we reclaim our streets by having mandatory 20mph limits in all residential areas, as Glasgow City Council is proposing?

Graham Stewart takes your calls, texts and emails.
