Should profitable companies show more social responsibility?
The drinks firm Diageo has reported a profit of more than 脗拢2bn but still plans to go ahead with the closure of its Johnnie Walker bottling plant in Kilmarnock, threatening 900 jobs. Its chief executive Paul Walsh said that the cost-cutting measures would allow greater spending on marketing the company's brands and said that he was "very comfortable" with the current plans.
