Concerts and recordings performed by young musical talent. Featuring Pavel Haas' first String Quartet, Schumann's Maria Stuart Songs, and Chopin's Sonata No 3 in B minor, Op 58.

Presented by Sarah Walker.

Radio 3's New Generation Artists scheme provides concert and recording opportunities for some of the finest young talent on the international music scene.

The first String Quartet of Pavel Haas is performed by the young quartet who adopted his name.

Austrian mezzo-soprano Daniela Lehner sings Schumann's Maria Stuart Songs, settings of poetry supposedly written by the ill-fated Mary Queen of Scots during her incarceration. The treatment of love and death reflected Schumann's own depression and illness at the time of writing this, his final song cycle.

Finally, Argentinian pianist Ingrid Fliter plays Chopin's Sonata No 3 in B minor.
