CBSO/Nelsons, with Hakan Hardenberger

CBSO/Andris Nelsons, with Hakan Hardenberger (trumpet), in music by Britten and Debussy about the sea. Plus Turnage: From the Wreckage and Haydn: Trumpet Concerto in E flat.

From Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Presented by Petroc Trelawny.

Swedish virtuoso trumpeter Hakan Hardenberger joins the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons in a programme featuring music by Britten and Debussy about the sea, plus Turnage and Haydn.

Few composers have captured the power and mystery of the oceans better than Debussy and Britten - the former in his swirling orchestral masterpiece, the latter in the interludes from his best-loved opera. With Hardenberger performing a work written for him by former CBSO composer-in-association Mark-Anthony Turnage, along with Haydn's popular E flat concerto.
