Jonathan Edwards is on the Newcastle quayside where England are battling Australia in the Great City Games, an innovative competition which takes place in a street setting on the banks of the Tyne.

This athletics Ashes features 11 events, including the 100m and 200m, run on a specially constructed track on the quayside. Also included is the pole vault, where spectators will get a unique close-up view of the likes of Olympic and world champion Steve Hooker showcasing their skills.

The format also includes the Great North Mile, the traditional prelude to the Great North Run.
